Pesto Pasta Italian Recipe

White Scribbled Underline

– 12 ounces (about 340 grams) of pasta (such as spaghetti, linguine, or fusilli) – 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed – 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese – 1/2 cup pine nuts or walnuts – 2 cloves garlic, minced – 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil – Salt and pepper to taste

Cook the Pasta:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.

Prepare the Pesto:

If using store-bought pesto, skip to the next step. If making homemade pesto, follow your preferred recipe to prepare it beforehand.

Combine Pasta and Pesto:

In a large skillet or saucepan, add the cooked pasta. Spoon the pesto sauce over the pasta and toss until the pasta is evenly coated.

Add Optional Ingredients:

If using, add the halved cherry tomatoes to the pasta and toss to combine. This adds freshness and a burst of flavor.

Once the pasta is coated with pesto and any optional ingredients are added, transfer it to serving plates or a large serving bowl.
